Morocco Aims to Boost UK Tourism with High-Level Meetings in London

Morocco wants to reconquer the British market. In this sense, a delegation from the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) went to London for a working visit during which it held talks with the heads of EasyJet and the Association of British Travel Agents and Tour Operators (ABTA).
After Paris, Adel El Fakir and his team set sail on Thursday for London, where they met with the leaders of the airline EasyJet, as well as the heads of the Association of British Travel Agents and Tour Operators (ABTA). In a press release, the ONMT specifies that the United Kingdom is the 4th source market for Morocco, and the 2nd market in terms of overnight stays. Hence the importance of the working visit to the British capital. During this visit, a working meeting brought together the delegation of the Office, Garry Wilson, administrator of EasyJet and CEO of EasyJet Holidays. This meeting allowed to confirm EasyJet’s commitments in terms of capacity on Morocco, informs the same source.
EasyJet plans to reschedule its flights to Morocco as early as this month. It also plans to deploy an offer of 75 flights per week linking Morocco to six European markets: the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The company also plans an 11% increase in its capacity put in place during the summer of 2019, through the programming of 20 routes for the summer season 2022. "We are very confident. It was essential for us to reaffirm our common vision and take stock to continue to consolidate trust with all the British players in air transport and travel in a sustainable way. This was already the case before the crisis and it will continue to gain momentum," said Adel El Fakir, CEO of the ONMT.
After the meeting with EasyJet, the Moroccan delegation participated in another at the ABTA headquarters in London, with the objective of setting the guidelines for an imminent resumption of activity in the British market and reassuring tour operators on all the measures taken by the sector for a lasting and safe reactivation, in particular thanks to the entry conditions recently confirmed by the Moroccan authorities. "These meetings are crucial, as the British market is extremely important for us. We are now more than ever determined to regain our position and to do everything to develop all the potential of this high value-added market," said Adel El Fakir.
