Chinese Steel Giant Clinches Morocco's High-Speed Rail Contract, Boosting World Cup 2030 Infrastructure

A Chinese steel company has won two major public contracts in Morocco, including the high-speed rail line (LGV) connecting Kénitra to Marrakech.

The company CSCEC Steel Structure is making its first entry into the North African market. It has won three tenders, including two in Morocco, according to the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA) or the Federation of Chinese International Contractors in French, on its website, specifying that "its activities abroad now cover 47 countries and regions, which fully reflects its global strength and the influence of its brand in the field of steel structures on an international scale".

The Chinese company has obtained a contract for the construction of flyovers in the second section of Morocco’s motorways. "The total amount of steel structure for the project is 15,600 tons," CHINCA specifies, adding that this project is an investment by the Moroccan Motorway Company (ADM). It "constitutes essential infrastructure as part of the hosting of the 2030 World Cup. [...] once completed, it will help strengthen the traffic capacity on local highways and give new impetus to regional economic development," assures the network of Chinese companies.

CSCEC Steel Structure has also won a contract for the realization of steel structures in the high-speed train project connecting the cities of Kénitra and Marrakech, for a total of 12,600 tons. "The high-speed line from Kénitra to Marrakech extends over 430 kilometers, with a design speed of up to 320 km/h. It is an important segment of the corridor connecting the north and south of Morocco. Once completed, it will become the fastest high-speed rail line on the African continent," details the Federation of Chinese International Contractors.

In Egypt, the Chinese company has won a contract for the construction of the steel structure of the Hisense television factory, for a total volume of 3,000 tons. "Once completed, it will help Hisense improve its global industrial layout, contribute to strengthening local employment and raising the level of industrial technology," assures the federation.
