Morocco's Tourism Revenue Surges 156%, Nears Pre-Pandemic Levels

Tourist receipts amounted to 52.2 billion dirhams at the end of last August, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF), a strong increase of 155.9% compared to last year’s figures.

This performance is attributable to the good performance of the demand for the "Morocco" destination and the continuation of government measures to support the activity of the sector, indicates the department, noting that the recovery rate compared to pre-health crisis figures has reached nearly 99%.

The improvement was particularly remarkable in the third quarter of the year, according to the same source, according to which the growth in tourist receipts consolidated with a performance of +38.8% in August and +15.6% in July 2022, i.e. a strengthening of 29.1% during these two months compared to the same months of 2019.

As for the number of arrivals in the kingdom, it reached 3.2 million arrivals during the months of June and July last, almost the same level reached during the same period of 2019. As for overnight stays, they amounted to 6.2 million at the end of June, an improvement of 128.9% compared to the end of June 2021.
