Morocco’s Tourism Boom: 21 Million Visitors and 120 Billion Dirham Revenue Expected in 2025

Given the figures for arrivals in Morocco during the first six months of 2025, which recorded a 19% increase compared to the same period last year, forecasts indicate tourist revenues of at least 120 billion dirhams this year.
"The latest figures published by the Tourism Observatory show a 19% growth rate in arrivals during the first half of the year, which represents on average double that of revenues, or 10%," explains an authorized source to Médias24, who estimates that this momentum should continue this summer and during the year-end holiday period, in the last quarter of the year.
Considering that 9.8 million tourists visited Morocco during the first half of the year, and that a similar or higher number is expected in the second half, the cumulative arrivals should reach 19.8 million or even 21 million with an average increase of 10% by the end of the year. "With the same growth rate in foreign exchange earnings that characterized the first half, namely 8 to 10%, they should have no trouble reaching 120 billion dirhams," develops the same source, specifying that Morocco will achieve the revenue forecasts for 2026 a year in advance.
According to the same source, 73% of the number of arrivals was recorded in the six largest airports in the kingdom (Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, Fez and Rabat) which absorbed 89% of air traffic. In terms of source markets, there is a strong increase in the arrival of Italian tourists, after the leading trio of French, Spanish and British. "Morocco welcomed 556,000 Italian tourists during the first half of the year. This market has achieved a historic growth of 28% that distinguishes it from other European markets," it is indicated.
The same source is also surprised by the absence of the number of Chinese arrivals in the data published by the Tourism Observatory, assuring that this market has continued to increase since the reactivation last January by Royal Air Maroc of the Casablanca-Beijing flight and the opening of an indirect Shanghai-Marseille-Marrakech line operated by China Eastern Airlines. This is probably an error, the source suggests, recalling that China generated at least 100,000 arrivals, compared to 80,000 arrivals for Poland, which came in last in the ranking.
