Marrakech Tourism Surges: Moroccan Expats Drive 10% Rise in April Arrivals

In Marrakech, the number of arrivals in April and overnight stays generated in classified tourist accommodation establishments recorded a respective increase of 10% and 11%. Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs) strongly contributed to this achievement.
From January to April, tourist attendance reached 1,059,305 arrivals and 3,304,452 overnight stays, representing a growth of 6% and 8% compared to the same period in 2024, according to the internal document from the Ministry of Tourism consulted by Médias24. MREs achieved the highest number of arrivals in April with a 12% growth compared to the same month in 2024. They are followed by the French, whose numbers increased by 5%, and the British, who marked a significant growth of 13%.
With a 9% increase compared to the first four months of 2024, the MRE market once again comes out on top, according to the cumulative figures for arrivals in January and April. MREs are followed by the French with a 1% decline and finally the British, who increased by 18%.
What about overnight stays generated in tourist accommodation establishments? International tourism accounted for 3/4 of overnight stays last April, or 81%. 19% of overnight stays were made by domestic tourism. The French market (26%), the domestic market (19%), and the British market (16%) form the top 3 dominant markets. During April 2025, the club-hotel category recorded the highest figure with an occupancy rate of 98%. Next come the 4 and 5-star hotel categories, which achieved 86% and 83% respectively.
