Morocco's Top Health Expert Calls for End to COVID Restrictions Amid Vaccination Success

Professor Azeddine Ibrahimi, member of the Technical and Scientific Committee, advocates a rapid return to normal life. Given the epidemiological situation in the kingdom and the success of the vaccination, the expert recommends the complete lifting of health restrictions.

After the sacrifices of the Moroccans to comply with the guidelines of the public authorities and having participated in the vaccination campaign, it is time for them to see the promises of returning to normal life realized. This is the substance of the plea made by the director of the biotechnology laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat.

On his Facebook page, the expert explained that the kingdom presents all the indicators that can allow it to establish a schedule for a gradual return to normal life. "It may be time to announce a schedule in view of the indicators... Everyone in Morocco wishes and aspires to get out of the psychological fatigue due to the uncertainty of the future," he wrote.

For him, Morocco meets the basic scientific criteria that most countries have used to announce their schedule. He cites as an example, the decongestion of intensive care units and the drop in contamination, allowing the virus to be mastered and controlled, without the risk of "reigniting the pandemic".

Consequently, Professor Ibrahimi recommends the opening of stadiums or the performance of "tarawih" prayers in mosques, while only a few weeks separate us from the holy month of Ramadan. Finally, he proposes the easing of the health protocol in schools, as he believes it has a psychological impact of wearing a mask for children.
