Morocco's Tissoudali Weighs In on World Cup Draw and National Team Drama

Moroccan international Tarik Tissoudali, who plays for Gent (Belgium), spoke about the news of the Atlas Lions, his performances and his future with the club.

Considered one of the main actors in Morocco’s qualification for the World Cup, thanks to his two goals in the playoffs, the 29-year-old Moroccan striker shared his impressions on the draw for the competition, the Ziyech and Mazraoui affair, and his possible transfer in the next transfer window.

Speaking on "Radio Voltaire", Tissoudali also described the group that Morocco inherited at the World Cup as difficult, stressing that a positive attitude is nonetheless needed to win. "It won’t be easy, but anything is possible in football. Belgium and Croatia are the strongest in the group, without of course underestimating Canada. But I think Belgium is the top candidate to get through the first round," he said.

Regarding the dispute between Vahid Halilhodzic and Hakim Ziyech and Noussair Mezraoui, the player assured that it had no impact on the group. "I think it’s talked about more on the outside, because at the group level we don’t discuss this issue. I know the public would like to see the two players with the national team at the World Cup, but at my level, it’s difficult for me to comment on the subject. I hear several stories around this case, but I don’t know what I could say or add to what has already been said," he indicated.

Regarding his future with the club, Tissoudali said that several offers were on the table. "There is interest from clubs in Belgium, Spain and Italy playing in the Champions League this year. That should be the next step for me, to be more at the European level. I know it’s possible at Gent. I’m still in talks, but it’s not a priority for now," he said.
