Morocco Tightens Enforcement of COVID-19 Lockdown in Hardest-Hit Regions

The Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, gave firm instructions in the application of the rules of the health state of emergency to the walis of four regions.
The regions concerned are the most affected on the map of the distribution of cases of people tested positive. This is the epicenter of covid-19 in Morocco, Casablanca-Settat (241 cases), followed by Marrakech-Safi (139), Fès-Meknès (121) and Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (148).
Among the priority measures to be respected to prevent the spread of covid-19 are home confinement and the ban on inter-city transport.
To date, nearly 5,000 people are being prosecuted for non-compliance with the rules of the health state of emergency, declared from March 20 to April 20.
