Morocco Tightens COVID-19 Restrictions as Cases Surge, PM Explains Measures

Morocco has tightened preventive health measures in recent days to counter the surge in positive Covid-19 cases. A situation that raises many questions, to which the Head of Government, Saadeddine El Othmani, has tried to respond.
On his Facebook page, El Othmani stated that the tightening of preventive measures, particularly the ban on evening movement and the closure of establishments at 9 p.m., was due to the high number of deaths and people in critical condition.
"The government’s decisions were made with the help of a scientific committee that includes experts. They indicate that these measures were taken following a significant increase in new infections and critical patients," he said.
To this end, El Othmani called on Moroccans to adhere to all necessary measures for their safety to defeat the virus, and stressed the importance of accelerating the vaccination rate.
"Continue to wear a mask, use hydroalcoholic gels, and get vaccinated," he advised.
