Morocco’s PM Warns of ’Worrying’ COVID Surge, Urges Strict Adherence to Health Measures

The Head of Government, Saâdeddine El Othmani, says that Morocco’s epidemiological situation is "worrying". In this sense, he calls on Moroccans to strictly respect the health measures enacted to curb the spread of the coronavirus and its variants in the kingdom.
"The situation is worrying in the face of a daily increase in contaminations and the presence of many serious patients in intensive care units," said the Head of Government in an interview with the website Le360. On Friday, Morocco recorded 11,358 cases of contamination and 76 deaths.
According to El Othmani, the epidemiological situation calls for compliance with protective measures. "Unfortunately, we note in several cases that these protection rules are not respected during gatherings. Sometimes, people don’t even use masks. Often, they exchange hugs and many of them undertake unnecessary trips between cities," he lamented.
This situation "makes our mission to control the evolution of the pandemic difficult," said El Othmani, once again calling on citizens to strictly respect the precautionary instructions.
