Morocco Thwarts Mass Migration Attempt by Minors at Ceuta Border

Moroccan security forces prevented this Wednesday hundreds of young people and minors from entering Ceuta, thus avoiding a new migration crisis after the one that occurred last May.
Morocco quickly deployed agents at the Tarajal border to prevent hundreds of young people and minors who had set out to reach Ceuta. As soon as the alert was raised about this new attempt to invade migrants in the autonomous city, the Spanish Civil Guard immediately mobilized the helicopter to fly over the border area during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, as well as several GRS agents and the Maritime Service. The National Police also deployed a large force to support the Moroccan security forces if necessary in their action to repel these hundreds of young people, candidates for illegal immigration, reports El Foro de Ceuta.

Although Morocco has fortified its border with Ceuta by installing concertinas and reinforcing the number of security forces, many young Moroccans, mostly from Fnideq, continue to try to reach Spain.
The recent rumors announcing the imminent reopening of the Tarajal border would have provoked this new attempt at a massive entry of young Moroccans into Ceuta, according to the same source. The Moroccan and Spanish authorities have not, for the moment, made any official announcement about this new attempt at a mass entry of migrants into Ceuta.
