Morocco Targets Hammam Boilers in Energy Efficiency Push

The wood used to heat the hammams seems to be in the sights of the State. And, above all, its quantity: Too much! This would be a real economic and energy problem caused by the 12,000 hammams in Morocco, according to the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE).
The AMEE will soon launch an awareness campaign to encourage hammam owners to switch their boilers to more recent, more environmentally friendly and more economical models, according to the latter. These would be improved boilers specially designed for hammams and running on biomass, according to Said Mouline, Director General of the AMEE. These are in particular waste developed in the sectors of the Green Morocco Plan, among others: olive pomace, almond shells, argan bark...
Thanks to this, the hammams would consume less, reduce their energy costs and, as a bonus, be more environmentally friendly. The energy efficiency of the hammams would even increase by 40%. According to EFE, "pilot hammams" would already have been asked to test these new boilers and have given positive results.
An argument that is reminiscent of the one served to grand taxi drivers to get them to switch from Mercedes to Renault. The mystery also remains about the price of these boilers and the economic advantages and counterparts that hammam owners would have if they accept the transition (or the taxes and fines they would risk being imposed on in case of refusal).
