Morocco's Taghazout to Unveil 2km Coastal Promenade, Linking Surf Spots

The preliminary design study (APS) of the Taghazout promenade development plan indicates that the project, which was limited to the area of the Taghazout Bay resort, will be extended to the coastal strip of the Taghazout area over nearly 2 kilometers, with an estimated budget of 18 MDH.

The construction of the new promenade, which will serve as a bridge between the seaside resort and the seafront of the Taghazout center, will connect the Panorama Point surf spot located at the end of the current promenade, to the La Source beach north of Taghazout over nearly 2 kilometers. The project will ensure a continuous linear promenade from Aourir, passing through the Taghazout Bay resort, the Madrague area, La Source, connecting several surf spots up to the north of Taghazout, according to the study carried out by the firm approved by the Souss-Massa Regional Tourism Development Company (SDR) and presented last Tuesday via videoconference, according to Les Eco.

The budget for this project has been estimated at around 18 MDH, of which 10.8 MDH is dedicated to the Anchor Point slope, and more than half of the budget will be devoted to the structures, including pedestrian bridges, offshore structures and level walkways, and floor coverings.

The development work already underway in the center of Taghazout is over 80% complete and the upper part network is already in service, as is the wastewater transfer system of the Agadir Autonomous Multi-Service Authority network. In addition, a new tourist area will be developed in the forest area north of the Taghazout village, to host tourism projects dedicated in particular to surfing, the same source said.
