Agadir’s 40.5 km Ring Road Project Begins: Airport-Port Connection to Boost Infrastructure

In Agadir, the development work on the first section of the Northeast Boulevard connecting the airport to the RN11 is entering the execution phase. At a cost of 770 million dirhams and 40.5 km long, the ring road will ultimately improve the journey between Al Massira Airport, the port of Agadir, the Taghazout resort, the industrial parks and the free zone, passing through the Ait Melloul industrial zone and the university complex of the city.
The contract related to this part of the project has been approved and takes into account the realization of a length of 7.5 km for a sum of 79 million dirhams. As for the Northeast ring road, connecting the RN11 to Abaraz, requiring 179 million dirhams for its realization, it will concern a length of 10 km and the work will begin in February 2021, reports La Vie éco.
As for the rest of the sections of the Northeast ring road and the specific works related to it, they are still in the study phase. The start of the work is scheduled for March 2021, depending on the payments of the shares of the partners and the confirmation of the studies.
It should be noted that the future boulevard with a total length of 40.5 km will make it possible to divert the North/South and North/South/port traffic from the current national road which has become urban. Thus, the development of the bypass roads will reduce the travel time of traffic, particularly heavy goods vehicles and improve road safety, while eliminating the black spots created by truck traffic.
