Morocco Suspends Flights from France, Sparking Rush at Nantes Airport

Several dozen people rushed to Nantes Atlantique airport to take the last flights, after Morocco’s decision to suspend all links with France from Sunday.

Morocco has decided to suspend flights to France from this Sunday. The news caused panic at Nantes Atlantique airport, where travelers rushed to take the last flights to Fez, reports France Bleu.

"It’s panic, I didn’t manage to sleep yesterday," says Fatima, a septuagenarian Moroccan who arrived in France at the end of October to visit her children whom she had not seen for four years. "I was supposed to see my son, but I won’t be able to," she regrets. The septuagenarian was unable to obtain the results of her negative PCR test before the check-in counter closed. "We’ll find another solution, by going through Belgium or Spain," reassures her son, Icham.

For his part, Kamal considers himself "lucky" to be returning to France from Morocco. He recounts having booked this flight before the announcement of the suspension, indicating the presence at Casablanca airport of "police who filtered the passengers." "I have several friends who have been stranded, the price of tickets has exploded since the announcements," he adds. "I was afraid of one thing, overbooking, so we were five hours early at the airport," confides Djelil, a Moroccan in his forties who also managed to reach France.
