Morocco Surges to Second Most Popular Winter Destination for French Tourists

Morocco is the second most popular destination for French people for winter holidays. This is the result of the ranking of the online comparator Liligo, which conducted a study in collaboration with the polling institute Opinionway.
After the reopening of Moroccan airspace on February 7, French tourists are eager to reach Morocco. The kingdom occupies the second place in the ranking of destinations considered by the French for the February holidays, behind Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The Liligo online comparator study reveals that searches for plane tickets to Morocco "have been multiplied by 3" compared to the same period last year. Two Moroccan cities are attracting French tourists: Casablanca and Marrakech.
"Morocco has always been widely popular with French travelers throughout the year, but also and especially as school holidays approach, as is the case now," says Guillaume Rostand, spokesperson for Liligo, adding that since the announcement of the reopening of Moroccan air borders, a renewed interest in this country has naturally been observed. In total, 4.2 million French people were visiting Morocco each year before the Covid-19 health crisis.
In the rest of the ranking, we find Mexico, New York and Istanbul (Turkey).
