French Travelers Favor Morocco for Summer Getaways, Survey Reveals

Morocco is one of the destinations favored by the French for summer holidays. This is revealed by a consulting firm.
According to a survey by the Ifop polling institute, carried out for the vacation rental platform Interhome France, and conducted with a sample of 1,004 people, representative of the French population aged 18 and over, 55% of the French plan to go on vacation this summer: 44% in France and 11% abroad. "It is the families who go the most during the summer holidays. Even if a small drop is observed among the working-class families," explains Didier Arino, director of the Protourisme consulting firm.
Spain is "very largely at the top" of the destinations favored by the French who wish to spend the summer holidays abroad, reveals Didier Arino to Ouest France. In addition to the Iberian peninsula, "Italy, Greece, Portugal, then the Maghreb countries and in particular Morocco and Tunisia which are experiencing a fairly strong recovery, post-pandemic," are also destinations favored by the French, he lists.
Many French people are considering going abroad. What explains this desire to go elsewhere? "At the height of the health crisis, in the summer of 2020, 94% of French vacationers stayed in France, and 6% went on vacation outside our borders; last year, they were 15% to go abroad and this year they are 25% to consider it," explains the expert, specifying however that "we do not quite find the level before the crisis, but we are almost back to normal".
