The national Beach Soccer team got off to a bad start in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The Atlas Lions indeed lost (7-6) to their counterparts from Côte d’Ivoire on Sunday in Abidjan, in the first leg of this phase.
Coach Oumar Sylla’s protégés will have to raise their level and win in the return leg to hope for qualification for this competition.
A total of fourteen national teams are entered in these qualifiers, the seven qualifiers to be joined by the host country for the final phase of the 2022 AFCON Beach Soccer, which will be played in Mozambique.
The return match is scheduled between August 5 and 7.
