Morocco Stuns Mali in U17 AFCON Semifinal Shootout, Advances to Final

The Lionceaux of the Atlas won the semi-final of the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations against the Malian selection in a penalty shootout.
From the kick-off, the Moroccan players tried to open the scoring quickly, thus disrupting the plans of their Malian opponents, considered favorites.
As the match progressed, the Malian team managed to take control of the game, exerting constant pressure to score the first goal. But the excellent interventions of the Moroccan goalkeeper Taha Benrhozil, supported by a solid defense, prevented the Malian attackers from finding the net. For their part, the Moroccan attackers also encountered difficulties in breaking through the opposing defense. The first half therefore ended with a goalless draw.
As the regulation time did not allow the two teams to be separated, it was the penalty shootout that had to decide the winner. The Moroccan national team finally won the match thanks to the performance, once again, of its goalkeeper, who managed to stop three Malian penalty kicks.
The Lionceaux of the Atlas will face the Senegalese team, which also qualified in the same way by eliminating Burkina Faso.
