Morocco Stuns Host Rwanda, Advances to African Volleyball Championship Semi-Finals

The Moroccan volleyball team defeated Rwanda in front of their home crowd on Saturday evening in Kigali by 3 sets to 0, and advances to the semi-finals.
By dominating Rwanda in this competition, Morocco has just brought down the myth around this Rwandan team, considered to be one of the best in this championship. Against the host country, the men of Franco-Serbian technician Nicola Matijasevic did not concede a single set (17-25, 23-25, 17-25), reports the MAP.
To secure a place in the final, the Moroccan volleyball players will have to beat Cameroon, the runner-up of the last edition, in the semi-finals, who also qualified on Saturday by eliminating Nigeria 3-1 (25-19, 25-27, 25-19, 25-20).
The Moroccan players, determined to win a spot for the 2022 World Cup, are competing in this African championship with young local players and others playing in Europe like Mohamed Hechdadi who is the pride of Morocco in the championships in South America and Europe.
In addition to Morocco and Cameroon, the Carthage Eagles secured their ticket to the semi-finals by winning 3-0 against the DR Congo (25-22, 25-17, 25-21), and Egypt beat Uganda 3-1 (28-30, 25-18, 25-16, 25-21).
The top two teams in the tournament will qualify directly for the next World Cup in 2022 in Russia. Morocco hopes to be one of those teams.
