Morocco Stuns Belgium 2-0 in World Cup Upset, Ziyech Shines as Man of the Match

Elected man of the match following Morocco’s victory over Belgium (2-0), Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech spoke about the team’s performance and the man of the match award.
The Atlas Lions beat the Belgian Red Devils (2-0) this Sunday, November 27, as part of the second round of the group stage of the 2022 World Cup. In a press conference, Hakim Ziyech describes a much more manageable match than the one played against Croatia. "The first match (0-0) against Croatia was more difficult for us to play. We couldn’t play our game, Croatia played a very good match. This one was maybe easier for us, especially in midfield: they may have made more mistakes than the Croats. We played a very strong, robust game, especially in defense."
When asked about his impressions after being chosen man of the match, he believes he "does not deserve this man of the match trophy. It is a collective effort that we have accomplished. Everyone was behind me, it is a collective work."
Ziyech also praised the unconditional support of the Moroccan public. "After 60-70 minutes, some were tired and when we scored that goal, they rallied behind us. It gave us more power, more ability. The public helped us: they were behind us and I think that really boosted us."
