Morocco Streamlines Import Process for Cosmetics and Hygiene Products

A new procedure for importing cosmetic and hygiene products has been put in place since April 1, 2019, according to a circular from the Directorate of Medicines and Pharmacy (DMP), under the Ministry of Health.
This initiative aims to facilitate import operations for importers of cosmetic and personal hygiene products, and to improve the quality of the Directorate’s services.
"A temporary import authorization (ATI) will be issued to the applicant establishment valid for a period of 6 months", subject to the presentation of supporting documents, reads the circular.
Importing establishments are required to submit their authorization requests to the DMP, and wait for the deliberation of the commission, which meets quarterly, to benefit from the registration certificate. However, the slowness of the procedures often undermines the activities of companies involved in public orders or other service contracts.
