Morocco’s Star Goalkeeper Bounou Injured in CAN Qualifier Win

Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national team, discusses the injury of goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, who was substituted in the first half, during the match against the Central African Republic counting for the 3rd round of the 2025 CAN qualifiers, which ended in a big victory for the Atlas Lions (5-0).
"Unfortunately, Yassine Bounou suffered an injury while he was in good shape. I hope his injury will not be serious and that it will not keep him away from the field for a long period," said Walid Regragui at the post-match press conference. His wish is for the Al-Hilal goalkeeper to recover quickly. "We hope he will be with us at the next training camp, because he is an important element of the team," added the national coach.

It’s really a shame, he was in great shape. But I’m lucky to have two great goalkeepers in my squad. After Bounou’s exit, Munir Mohamedi took over and had an excellent game," Regragui rejoiced.
With their big win over the Central African Republic (5-0), Morocco remains at the top of Group B with 9 points.
