Morocco Stalls on Repatriation of Unaccompanied Minors, Spanish Official Says

"Two or three repatriation orders" for unaccompanied Moroccan minors are signed each day, said Abderrahim Mohamed Hammú, the deputy advisor to the minor in the autonomous city of Melilla, urging Morocco to refer to its embassy in Spain to proceed with their repatriation.
Following the announcement of King Mohammed VI’s decision to facilitate the return of Moroccan minors abroad, Abderrahim Mohamed Hammú indicated that he signs "two or three repatriation orders" of these minors every day, whose files are sent to the Moroccan embassy in Spain with information on their families. But since then, he has received no response from the embassy, he said.

"Where these children will be best is with their parents, with their families," said the deputy advisor, who has asked the Moroccan ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior, following the High Instructions of King Mohammed VI, to instruct the Moroccan ambassador in Spain to study the files at his level and "proceed with the return of minors who have identified their families in Morocco".
Since the closure of the border with Morocco on March 13, 2020 for health reasons, the autonomous city of Melilla has recorded an average arrival of 700 minor migrants, a number significantly lower
