Morocco’s SNRT Acquires 2M Channel, Stakes in Medi1 TV to Form Public Media Holding

As part of the creation of a public audiovisual media holding, the National Broadcast and Television Company (SNRT) has just bought all the shares of the 2M channel and 30% of those of Medi1 TV.
SNRT, 2M and Medi1 will constitute a "Public Media Holding" which will be placed under the direction of SNRT, announced Othman El Ferdaous, the Moroccan Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports on Monday. This merger, he said, aims to "create financing and development margins, whether in terms of marketing or advertising strategy, in addition to margins in terms of human resources training."
The process, which has been underway for years, has been accelerated and completed due to the effects of the Covid-19 health crisis in order to allow Moroccans to benefit from quality and 100% Moroccan programs, the minister said, stressing that this public holding will focus mainly on digital transformation and audience segmentation.
SNRT will soon make a presentation on this holding in a parliamentary committee, Othman El Ferdaoussi also informed.
