Morocco Slams Palestinian Envoy’s Criticism of Israel Ties

Morocco reacted to the comments made by the Palestinian ambassador to Senegal, who "tendentiously" criticized the normalization of its relations with Israel.
The Moroccan response came from the Kingdom’s Embassy in Senegal, which expressed its outrage following the statements of the Palestinian ambassador in Dakar on the restoration of Israelo-Moroccan relations.
In a statement, Moroccan diplomacy described the remarks as "unfortunate because they are full of contradictions, untruths and even go against the official positions of its own hierarchy."
The embassy also stressed the "sovereign nature of Moroccan positions," adding that "these have been sufficiently explained and communicated, in particular, to the highest Palestinian authorities."
"Beyond the infringements of the most elementary principles of restraint and respect for sovereign states, especially from a diplomat, the positions expressed and the language used sorely lack tact and diplomacy altogether and amount to a puerile controversy," the Embassy notes.
It also recalled that the day after the restoration of relations with the Hebrew state, King Mohammed VI had spoken with the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, on December 9, 2020, to inform him and exchange with him on the Moroccan approach.
