Morocco to Open Embassy in Israel This Summer, Foreign Minister Visit Planned

Long announced by the Moroccan authorities, it is finally this summer that Morocco will open an embassy in Israel, according to the statements made on Wednesday by Yair Lapid, the head of Israeli diplomacy.
It was during a press conference held on Wednesday that Yair Lapid announced that the Moroccan Foreign Minister will soon make an official visit to Israel as part of the opening of the Kingdom’s embassy with the Hebrew state. No details were given on the exact date of Nasser Bourita’s visit and therefore the opening of the embassy.
After the restoration of relations between the two countries, Israel has been represented in Morocco since August 2021 by a liaison office headed by David Govrin. The Moroccan one is headed in Tel Aviv by Abderrahim Beyyoud.
According to several well-informed sources, Israel plans to open an embassy during the same period, in Rabat.
