Morocco Sets New COVID-19 Threshold for Football Match Postponements

In order to ensure the smooth running of matches without postponements, new measures have been taken by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the Ministry of Health. The two institutions have notified the presidents of the clubs and regional leagues through a circular.
From now on, the threshold must be greater than six players detected positive to validate the postponement of matches in the various divisions, indicates the circular. The objective is to establish an active surveillance system, involving the medical staff of each club. Here is the content:
1/ Detection of clinical signs suggestive of Covid-19, through a daily examination including:
• An interview to look for both symptoms suggestive of the disease and a history of contact with a confirmed or probable case of Covid-19, as defined in the Ministry of Health’s contact management guide:
• A physical examination, including mandatory temperature taking.
2/ Regular screening of all members, by RT-PCR test at a rate of one test every two weeks. The tests, the results of which must be notified according to the regulations on the mandatory declaration of diseases, condition the participation of players and members in the competitions as follows:
• Those tested negative can participate in the competition;
• Those tested positive will have to be excluded from the competition and taken care of according to the protocols in force;
• The exposure risk of the other team members will be assessed during the investigation, to be carried out according to the procedures in force; they will also have to benefit from a screening after one week. This results in the following:
Players and staff members tested negative can participate in the competition;
• Matches are postponed at a threshold of more than 6 players detected positive.
