Morocco Sets Ambitious Goal: 26 Million Tourists by 2030

In a context of recovery of the tourism sector, Morocco has revised its ambitions upwards, aiming to double the number of arrivals by 2030.
Speaking in parliament during the presentation of the sector’s budget for the next fiscal year, Tourism Minister Fatima-Zahra Ammor unveiled her post-pandemic tourism vision and the measures taken in this regard in the 2023 Finance Act.
According to her, Morocco wants to reach 26 million tourists by 2030, thanks to the recovery impetus given by the government and the concerted actions of all the players. In this sense, the government will mobilize new means next year, with a significant share for investments, recalls the newspaper Aujourd’hui le Maroc. Specifically, the provisional budget allocated to the tourism department is set at more than 691.7 million dirhams in 2023, while the provisional budget dedicated to tourism investment is set at 628.56 million dirhams.
In its roadmap, the government also intends to accelerate the measures relating to marketing and promotion to increase tourist arrivals. This is in addition to technical and financial support within the framework of signed or ongoing agreements for the development of the tourism product. Particular emphasis will be placed on the resumption of studies related to the tourism sector after a two-year interruption.
