Morocco Sets Age Limit of 30 for Teacher Recruitment Competition

Applicants for the next recruitment competition for teachers and administrative staff must be a maximum of 30 years old. On Friday, the supervisory ministry unveiled the new features introduced in the sector.

These reforms are part of the policy of qualitative improvement of the education system, initiated by the Framework Law and established as a priority by the New Development Model and the government program, indicates a press release from the Ministry of National Education, adding that "this orientation contributes to meeting the expectations of Moroccan women and men regarding the public school".

In this regard, we can mention among others: the implementation of a pre-selection procedure for the written competition based on objective and rigorous criteria, in order to strengthen the selectivity of the competition, and the attractiveness of the teaching professions for the best candidates, specifies the ministry, explaining that the criteria taken into account will be the grade obtained in the baccalaureate, that of the license and the duration for obtaining the latter.

Similarly, candidates will now be required to write a letter of motivation to assess their interest in the education professions and thus promote vocations, the press release notes, according to which holders of an education degree will be exempt from the pre-selection phase and will therefore be directly subject to the written competition, a provision that helps to encourage long 5-year training courses strengthening the professionalization of the profession.

The maximum age required is set at 30 years in order to attract young candidates into the teaching profession, with the aim of ensuring their lasting commitment to public education and investing in the training and development of their professional career, concludes the note.
