Morocco Set to Name Walid Regragui as New National Team Coach

A few days after the departure of Vahid Halilhodzic as head of the Atlas Lions, the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) will soon appoint his replacement. And among the names circulating, Walid Regragui figures.
The new coach of the Moroccan national team should be Walid Regragui and the latter would even have signed a 3-year contract. Moreover, the official announcement of his appointment by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) would be just a matter of days.
Walid Regragui knows the Atlas Lions well. He was part of them as a player during their participation in the 2004 CAN. Once he retired as a player, he was appointed assistant coach to Rachid Taoussi in 2012-2013. He was then called upon to lead FUS Rabat between 2014 and 2020, notably winning the Botola in 2016. Not to mention his stint at Al Duhail, during which he won the Qatari championship title.
He was appointed last summer to lead Wydad Casablanca, from which he is separating after a remarkable stint. Apparently, he has the qualities to lead the Atlas Lions. But is he really the choice of the FRMF? The next few days will provide the answer to this question.
