Morocco Denies Talks with Ferreira for National Team Coach Position

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has denied any negotiation with Zamalek coach Jesualdo Ferreira. Since the dismissal of the Atlas Lions coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, the Moroccan team is still without a coach.
"Nonsense." This is how Mohamed Makrouf, spokesman for the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), described the rumors about negotiations between the governing body and Jesualdo Ferreira. He confirmed that there were no negotiations with the Portuguese technician for him to lead the Atlas Lions to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The Zamalek coach will therefore not be the successor to coach Vahid.
Last week, the FRMF terminated the contract of the Franco-Bosnian technician. He is notably blamed for the poor relationship he maintained with some key players of the national team, including Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech, and the defeat of Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations. Appointed on August 15, 2019 as head of the national team to replace Frenchman Hervé Renard, Vahid Halilhidzic will have spent three years at the helm of the Moroccan team. To his credit, the qualification of the Atlas Lions for the 2021 CAN and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.
