Morocco Fires National Soccer Coach Vahid Halilhodzic Months Before World Cup

Vahid Halilhodzic is leaving the Moroccan national team just months before the World Cup. The decision is official and was made public this Thursday by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
The national coach of the Atlas Lions has been fired this Thursday by the FRMF. The Franco-Bosnian coach will not be the one who will lead the Atlas Lions to the 2022 World Cup.
There were far too many arguments in favor of this decision, which must reassure many Moroccan supporters, who have constantly demanded the dismissal of the coach after Morocco’s defeat in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations and in the face of his inflexibility to find a favorable outcome to the crisis shaking the national team, which led to the departure of certain players including Hakim Ziyech.
Vahid Halilhidzic was appointed on August 15, 2019 as head of the national team, replacing Hervé Renard. In 3 years, he managed to qualify the Lions for the 2022 World Cup, led them to the CAN, even if they were unable to reach the quarter-finals.
The identity of his replacement is not yet known. The FRMF will certainly reveal it in the coming days.
