After several weeks of study and negotiations, Morocco is about to sign its very first natural gas import agreement with a supplier.
The signing ceremony will be held "this week or next week," announced Energy Minister Leila Benali to parliament, stating that the kingdom had received several offers from international groups to import natural gas.
According to Benali, nearly a dozen groups specialized in the export of natural gas, through maritime lines, have responded to Morocco’s call, which, she recalled, has a natural gas need of 500 million m³ per year in the short term.
