Morocco Sends 50-Strong Military Delegation to World Military Games in China

Morocco is participating in the 7th edition of the Military World Games, which kicked off on Friday, October 18, 2019 in Wuhan (China). At this major event, nearly 10,000 competitors from 109 countries are represented.
Morocco is present at this edition from October 18 to 27, 2019 with a sports delegation of 50 military personnel. For this 7th edition, four disciplines are selected for the participation of Moroccan representatives. As in previous editions, the Kingdom does not intend to be a mere figurehead.
For China, it is participating with a large delegation of 553 members in this international competition where some 9,308 athletes will give their best in 329 events and 27 disciplines.
At this edition, tennis, men’s gymnastics, table tennis and badminton are making their debut at these Games for the first time, the same source points out.
As Chairman of the Central Military Commission, the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, kicked off this sporting event.
During a meeting with senior military officials representing the participating countries, the Chinese President recalled the theme of this edition, namely "Military Glory, World Peace".
In addition, he indicated that these World Games, initiated since 1995, aim, on the one hand, to encourage participants to show perseverance and fair play, and on the other hand, to strengthen the ties between the different cultures, while contributing to the establishment of peace, throughout the world.
