Morocco’s Self-Entrepreneurs Await Social Security and Healthcare Benefits

Created since 2015 by law project n° 114.13, the "Self-Entrepreneur" regime did not benefit, until now, from a retirement system and medical coverage. Benefits that are still under discussion. And yet, this new status is experiencing growing success.
Regarding self-entrepreneurs, L’Économiste mentions workers engaged in "industrial, commercial and craft activities and whose turnover is less than or equal to 500,000 DH". These contribute greatly to development and are subject to "a tax rate of 0.5%", the newspaper notes.
Recalling the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) which is itself based on a study carried out by Maroc PME, the publication indicates that "these professionals generate a margin of 15% and a maximum lump-sum profit of 75,000 DH".
Regarding the discussions for the improvement of working conditions, the media mainly informs that, for this category, the Fund proposes "a monthly lump-sum income of 6,425 DH, or two and a half times the minimum wage". As for the category of self-employed service providers, taxed at 1%, for a turnover of less than 200,000 DH, "the corresponding monthly contribution base would be equivalent to 5,140, or twice the minimum wage".
However, these consultations have still not resulted in an agreement as, the same source specifies, the self-entrepreneurs have simply rejected these proposals.
