Morocco Sees 5% Surge in New Business Registrations, Over 50,000 Companies Created in First Half of 2019

The creation of companies has seen an increase in the first half of 2019 with the birth of 50,135 entities. Compared to the same period last year, 2,670 more companies have been created.
Increase in the creation of companies. In total, 50,135 entities were created during the first half of the current year, according to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC). In detail, 26,718 "Legal Entities" companies were born against 25,144 in 2018. "Natural Persons" companies, on the other hand, are around 23,417 units against 22,321 the previous year.
According to the geographical distribution of new registrations, Casablanca-Settat is at the top of the pack, with the creation of 11,667 companies. The same source specifies that 43.18% of the companies created have shown a preference for commerce.
16.76% of the newly created entities have chosen various services as their field of activity.
Also, 16.21% of the new companies concern the construction and real estate sectors. 8.01%, 6.61% and 5% of the companies opt, respectively, for transport, the industrial sector and for hotels and restaurants.
Few companies (1.81%) have shown an interest in the agriculture and ICT sectors. Some companies have opted for financial activities (0.62%).
All the companies created have achieved a turnover of less than $316,000 (3 million DH), details the OMPIC.
