Morocco Seeks Second Straight Win in Friendly Against Peru After Brazil Upset

After their resounding victory over the Brazilian team last Saturday, the Atlas Lions are confident to face Peru in a friendly match on Tuesday evening at the Civitas Metropolitano stadium in Madrid. The men of Walid Regragui managed to impose themselves against a Brazilian team that was difficult to maneuver (2-1), and they are now aiming for another victory on Tuesday evening against Peru.
Arrived in Madrid early on Sunday, the Moroccan players immediately began to prepare their match against Peru. The Atlas Lions have held two training sessions to refine their tactics and prepare their strategy for this friendly match.
The Morocco-Peru match will be played live tonight at 7:30 p.m. Moroccan time (9:30 p.m. Spanish time) at the Civitas Metropolitano stadium, home of Atlético de Madrid. As for the match on Saturday against Brazil, the supporters will be able to follow live the Atlas Lions on the Arryadia channel.
Regragui expects a very difficult Morocco-Peru match:
According to Walid Regragui, the Peruvians have similarities with Paraguay, against whom the Atlas Lions had drawn in September 2022. The South Americans play with a lot of desire and combativeness, in addition to having a very good defensive organization.
To win the match against Peru, the Moroccan coach intends to field the best possible team, without however disrupting his starting XI, in order to maintain his automatisms and improve the defensive animation. However, he already announces the absences of Azzedine Ounahi and Achraf Hakimi, the latter having suffered a fractured toe.
Despite his mediocre performance against Brazil, goalkeeper Yassine Bounou will have the chance to prove that he is still a great goalkeeper. Walid Regragui trusts his players, as evidenced by his choice to start 19-year-old midfielder Bilal El Khannouss, who was launched into the deep end in the third-place match of the 2022 World Cup against Croatia, and then against Brazil.
However, the coach’s main concern is at the defensive midfield position. Sofyan Amrabat embodies this position, and the profile of this player is rare. To make up for this shortcoming, Walid Regragui plans to field Imran Louza in this particular position for a few minutes.
