Morocco Seeks Friendly Match with Libya to Prepare for AFCON Qualifiers

After Burkina Faso and Niger, Morocco, in search of a new challenger, has transmitted, through the Secretariat of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), an official request to its Libyan counterpart to organize a friendly match next October. Pending the response from the Libyan authorities, the national team is sharpening its weapons.

Morocco is preparing to face continental and international competitions serenely. To this end, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) is multiplying contacts to put its players in condition pending the first matches of the qualifying rounds for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).

To this end, the FRMF has proposed a friendly match to its Libyan counterpart for next October. In the correspondence sent by the Secretary General of the Federation, Tarik Najem, to the President of the Libyan Federation, the governing body of Moroccan football has negotiated "a friendly match, which will oppose the national teams of the two federations, of category A, in Morocco, as part of the preparations for the next scheduled competitions," reports Le360.

"The date we propose is the FIFA dates period in October 2019," the same correspondence further specifies. For now, no response has been notified to the FRMF by the Libyans.

For its two previous confrontations, the Atlas Lions, in the two friendly matches, drew 1-1 against Burkina Faso on September 6, and won 1-0 against Niger on September 10 at the Grand Stadium in Marrakech.
