Morocco Seeks to Defend CHAN Title Against Mali in Cameroon Final
The Atlas Lions and the Eagles of Mali face off this Sunday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium. This match is part of the final of the 6th edition of the CHAN Cameroon 2020.
The match pitting the Moroccan team against Mali is a real challenge for the two teams, as the former wants to retain its champion status and the latter wants to win its first victory, after its failure in 2016 in Rwanda.
In Group C, Morocco started its competition coldly, with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Togo, a 0-0 draw against Rwanda, followed by a 5-2 match against Uganda. In the quarter-finals, it put Zambia out of the game with 3-1, then the Indomitable Lions in the semi-finals, 4-0. This earned the kingdom a total of 13 goals scored against 3 conceded.
As for Mali, it emerged from Group A, the host Cameroon, after beating Burkina Faso 1-0, drawing 1-1 against Cameroon, followed by Zimbabwe 1-0, for a total of 3 goals. It then beat Congo Brazzaville in the quarter-finals, 5-4, and Guinea in the semi-finals, 5-4. After these victories, Mali won the title of best defense. Morocco, on the other hand, holds the title of best attack in the competition.
Thus, for this match, it is two leaders who will face each other for a single place. Will Morocco retain its place of February 4, 2018, or will Mali manage to get its hands on the trophy?
