Morocco Secures Over 4,400 Green Cards in US Visa Lottery, Ranks 6th Globally

This year, Morocco ranks 6th among the winning countries of the American visa lottery. It is far behind Algeria.
According to the Miami Herald, the results were published by the Bureau of Consular Affairs of the US State Department. More than 55,000 Green cards are made available to all countries each year. Morocco has won 4,458 cards.
It far exceeds Tunisia, which is almost absent from the top 15. But it is outpaced by Algeria, which ranks 2nd among African countries with 6,001 cards, and Egypt, which takes the lead with 6,002 winners.
According to the same source, the winners of the 2021 American lottery were drawn by computer from 6,741,128 applications from around the world, received during the 35-day registration period last year.
This year, the number of applications has fallen, contrary to previous years, due to the new regulations to avoid fraudulent applications. Candidates were invited for the first time since the creation of the program to present a valid passport before submitting the application form electronically.
