Morocco Secures Key Border Crossing, Repels Polisario Militants

Security now reigns at the El Guerguerat crossing between Morocco and Mauritania. At least this is what the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) asserts.
"In accordance with the other instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, an operation was carried out on November 13, 2020, according to clear rules of engagement prescribing to avoid any contact with civilian persons," the General Staff of the FAR said in a statement.
During this operation, the Polisario militiamen opened fire on the FAR. The response did not wait. The strikes of the Moroccan soldiers put these militiamen to rout. No human casualties are to be deplored.
"After becoming aware of the engagement of the Royal Armed Forces, carried out in application of the high instructions of His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, the Polisario militiamen voluntarily set fire to the tent camp they had erected and fled eastward and southward by Jeeps and trucks, under the eyes of the MINURSO observers," the same source said.
This military operation has produced the expected effects. "The El Guerguerat crossing is now completely secured by the establishment of a security cordon, ensuring the flow of goods and people through the crossing between the two border posts," the General Staff concluded.
