Morocco: Satellite images reveal a country transformed by record rainfall

Satellite images captured by the European Copernicus program reveal a striking contrast in the northeast of the country. Where vegetation was almost imperceptible in mid-February 2025, the soils now display lush green colors. This spectacular turnaround comes after three months of intense rainfall, marking the end of an extreme drought cycle that was suffocating the region, notes RTBF.

The rainfall data recorded this winter is historic. In Rabat, the total precipitation has increased from 71 mm in 2025 to 545 mm for the 2025/2026 season, a quantity seven and a half times higher. These shocking figures propel this winter among the three wettest in the history of Morocco, offering an unexpected respite to agriculture and local ecosystems.
