Morocco is the safest country in Africa (HelloSafe ranking)

The 2026 edition of the HelloSafe index names Iceland, Switzerland and Norway as the global top three in terms of safety. This ranking reflects an expanded definition of travel security, now integrating modern dimensions such as cybersecurity and climate resilience to address the new concerns of globetrotters, says HelloSafe.

At the African continental level, Morocco occupies the first place with a score of 73.25 out of 100, rising to the 42nd position globally. It thus surpasses Tunisia (43rd), confirming its position as a regional leader. Although Northern Europe dominates the top of the table, Asia also places two nations, Singapore and Japan, in the global top 10.

The methodology is based on five weighted pillars:

• Public safety and crime (35%),

• Political stability (25%),

• Health security (15%),

• Cybersecurity (15%),

• Environmental risk (10%).

The integration of data from the World Bank, WHO and ITU ensures a rigorous assessment of physical, digital and health security.

This model, based exclusively on international public data, aims to provide a realistic benchmark in the face of unforeseen events. Experts point out that the combination of high-performance health systems and effective management of climate risks allows the top-ranked destinations, including Morocco for its region, to maintain a secure framework for visitors.
