Morocco’s Cleanest Beaches 2026 - Blue Flag Rankings

The best-rated Moroccan beaches from an environmental perspective are well known. For the summer season 2026, 38 Moroccan sites have obtained the international Blue Flag label, according to the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, chaired by Princess Lalla Hasnaa.

This ranking includes 33 beaches, four marinas and pleasure ports, as well as a natural mountain lake. This is a national record for Morocco, which continues to expand its network of certified sites.

Five new beaches join the list this year: Oualidia Grande Plage, in Sidi Bennour province, Tamaris II, in Nouaceur province, Contrebandiers and Sable d’Or, in Skhirate-Témara prefecture, as well as Amsa, in Tétouan province.

The 28 beaches already certified in 2025 have retained their Blue Flag in 2026. This means that the municipalities concerned have managed to maintain the label’s requirements, despite heavy summer traffic and pressure on the coastline.

A label that must be earned all summer long

The Blue Flag does not only reward a pleasant or well-frequented beach. It is based on several criteria: quality of bathing waters, public information, environmental awareness, hygiene, safety, development and sustainable management of the site.

Unannounced inspections are planned throughout the season to verify that beaches continue to meet these requirements. A beach can therefore lose credibility if efforts are not maintained during the summer.

In total, 55 applications were submitted this year. This figure shows the growing interest of coastal municipalities and site managers in this distinction, which has become an important tourism asset.

The program is part of the continuity of "Clean Beaches", conducted since 1999 by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection. It mobilizes local authorities, associations, relevant administrations and economic partners around sustainable coastal management.
