Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc Adds Special Flights from Portugal and Turkey for Returning Residents

Following the decision of the Moroccan authorities to end the system put in place to allow the return to Morocco of Moroccans who actually reside there and who have recently left the national territory as of December 23, the airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has scheduled three new special flights subject to authorization departing from Portugal and Turkey and bound for Morocco this week.
In a message posted on its Twitter account, Royal Air Maroc announced that it will operate three new special flights (subject to authorization) on December 22: two flights from Lisbon (Portugal) to Agadir and one flight from Istanbul (Turkey) to Agadir. These flights are accessible to Moroccans residing in Morocco as well as their spouses, and their accompanying children who have left the country since September 1, 2021.
These people must present their national identity card or passport proving their address as well as a PCR test less than 48 hours old. They will undergo PCR tests every 48 hours in the hotels where they will be confined (at the expense of the State) for 7 days. The competent health authorities will take care of the people who test positive at the airport or at the hotel.
As of December 23, 2021, no special flight will be organized to allow Moroccans actually residing in Morocco and stranded abroad to return to the national territory. Last Monday, the Moroccan authorities exceptionally authorized passenger flights to the kingdom from Portugal, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, before announcing that they would end this system as of Thursday. Consequently, the Moroccans concerned must make the necessary arrangements for their return, before this date.
