Morocco Restricts Spanish Trucks in Response to Fuel Allowance Dispute

The implementation by Spain of the fuel allowance that heavily penalizes Moroccan carriers has prompted a reaction from the Kingdom. It has just put in place intelligent reciprocity measures.
In the name of a new note signed by the Directorate of Special Import-Export Operations at the Port of Tanger-Med, Spanish trucks that do not have a partnership certificate with a Moroccan company are no longer allowed to enter the national territory, reports the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
Henceforth, any Spanish truck not respecting this condition will have to unload its cargo and return to Spain immediately. An opportunity for Moroccan trucks to take over. In addition to the partnership certificate requirement, there is another one: trailers and trucks from Spain must necessarily have original documents. The simple photocopies of documents previously accepted are no longer accepted.
It should be noted that the new measure put in place by Morocco is perfectly legal. It is the implementation of the Moroccan-Spanish bilateral agreement signed in 2012 and not activated, at the request of Spain, stipulating that the cargoes of Spanish trucks must rigorously comply with all the provisions of the agreement, at the risk of turning back to their country of origin. Morocco has just reactivated this law.
