Morocco to Require Covid-19 Immunity Passport for Air Travel, Health Minister Says

"We need to monitor the vaccinated people who will be registered on the electoral lists and will be assigned a QR code, because we want Moroccans to be among the first to be vaccinated, since the whole world will require an immunity passport," explained Khalid Ait Taleb on the 2M television channel on November 30.

This is to comply with the decision of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) which is about to launch its "Covid-19 passport" called IATA Travel Pass, which, according to the American daily The Hill, will be a universally accepted document. It is a digital platform for passengers that provides information on four types of information:

• Health requirements
• Testing and vaccination centers
• Vaccination certificates sent directly by the laboratory to the application
• Digitized travel documents.

According to La Dépêche, IATA Travel Pass aims to revive the air transport sector, which has lost 60% of its turnover due to the health crisis. It would spare travelers from being quarantined. Thus, Royal Air Maroc, which is one of the 290 airline companies that are members of IATA, should very soon require this document from its passengers.

However, this obligation calls into question the freedom or not to be vaccinated and could lead to certain forms of discrimination between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated. And it is not excluded that, in a ripple effect, some recruiters, businesses or public places could also decide to require it.
