Morocco Remains in Second Stage of COVID-19 Spread, Health Ministry Reports

Based on a recent report from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Health states that Morocco is still at the second stage of the spread of coronavirus.
According to the coordinator of the National Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet, the latest statistics indicate that Morocco is ranked 60th globally and 6th continentally in terms of the number of coronavirus infection cases.
The kingdom occupies the 66th place globally and the 7th on the continental scale in terms of the number of deaths, 35th globally and 2nd in Africa in terms of Covid-19 screening tests.
However, Mr. Mrabet noted that the number of deaths is increasing. He recalled that there were 23 deaths in June, and the following month this figure increased to reach 125 deaths.
He also explained the three stages of the epidemiological situation. The first stage is that of "confinement", where the cumulative incidence rate has shown a slight increase before stabilizing and then decreasing to reach 1 person per 100,000 per week, explained the official. The second stage is related to the "gradual lifting of confinement", characterized by a progressive increase in this rate, which will eventually reach 6 people per 100,000.
The third stage concerns the "in-depth lifting of confinement", a phase marked by the increase in the cumulative incidence indicator to reach more than 14 people per 100,000 last week. For now, Morocco is still at the second stage of spread.
