Morocco’s Regragui to Announce Squad for World Cup Qualifiers

Walid Regragui, coach of the Atlas Lions, will soon unveil the list of players who will be called up for the training camp at the Mohammed VI Center in Rabat on March 13, during a press conference. He will be able to count on the Moroccan strikers who are currently in great form.
The Moroccan national team will face Niger and Tanzania on March 17 and 24, 2025, as part of the fifth and sixth rounds of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Walid Regragui will unveil the final list of players who will be called up for the training camp at the Mohammed VI Center in Rabat on March 13, during a press conference. The Moroccan strikers who have been performing well with their clubs since the beginning of the current season could be on this list.
One of them is Ayoub El Kaabi, a player for Olympiacos (Greece). He has contributed to 27 goals. His teammate and compatriot Youssef En-Nesyri has achieved the same number of contributions. Abderrazak Hamdallah, a striker for Al-Shabab (Saudi Arabia), and Al-Ain FC striker Soufiane Rahimi have each totaled 20 contributions. For his part, the center forward Hamza Igamane, a player for the Glasgow Rangers (Scotland), has contributed to 16 goals in 31 matches played with his new club. "The success and brilliance of the strikers are important elements and play in favor of national coach Walid Regragui, as it gives him a greater possibility of choice. Having several options is preferable, especially since the competitions are still ongoing and the season is still a bit long," comments sports analyst Abderrahim Ouchrif with the Al3omk website.
According to him, "everything remains possible, particularly due to injuries, which are a major problem and can occur up to the last moments before the start of the tournaments." Will Walid Regragui trust Abderrazak Hamdallah? "For Abderrazak Hamdallah, it is difficult for him to receive a call-up from the national coach, but En-Nesyri, El Kaabi and Rahimi are well present, and Igman also deserves to be called up. As for Hamdallah, although he is shining, certain criteria complicate his return," explains Ouchrif.
Regragui will not be able to call up all the Atlas Lions. "The exclusion of certain players is part of football, as it has happened with many players throughout history, and the final word always rests with the coach," says the sports analyst.
